Spaces of remembrance
The Spaces of Remembrance are spaces to make visible and offer insight into the human cost of the Spanish Civil War, further describing the effects of the post-war period, and raise awareness of the culture of peace, democratic values, and the non-armed resolution of conflicts.
At the air-raid shelter of Tetuan Square and in Sant Roc Street the bombings and war victims are remembered; Illes Columbretes Square is the place where the old provincial prison was located; the river Sec, as it passes through the cemetery, is where more than 800 people were shot, and the civil cemetery of Sant Josep is where the victims are buried.
